Meet The Funky Crew

Howdy friends, I'm Melissa! Some of my first plant memories involve pulling weeds and my dad's vegetable garden and dumpster diving at big box garden stores for discarded African Violets for my mother to rehab. My professional background is in education and law, a far cry from botany or horticulture. All my plant knowledge and passion comes from years of having my hands in the dirt, trial and error, and lots of patience.

 

My plant collection began with propagating echeveria pieces gifted by a family member. While I consider myself an equal opportunity plant hoarder, succulents hold a special place in my heart. To me, they symbolize incredible tenacity and a unique personality all their own.

When not in the greenhouse, you can find me kayaking or hiking with my family, doing meaningful work in public education, nurturing physical and emotional health with local nonprofit Bliss Kid Yoga, and using any time left over to fight the patriarchy and walk my dog.

It takes one hell of a spouse to support the crazy business ideas of two Gemini women! Lash is the wizard behind the curtain, making sure the plant ladies stay hydrated, loading in and out at pop ups, and encouraging dreams even when profits are marginal.

 

When not building potting benches or hauling rain water, the elusive Lashsquatch may be spotted on the disc golf course, winning father of the year awards, working for a successful local plumbing company, and nerding out on Anime. He is also personally responsible for most of the empty cans that customers eventually see used for planters.
